This functional yet beautiful, strongly grained one-of-a-kind decorative platter or serving bowl sculpture is made from an old growth Ponderosa pine tree that fell in the Oregon high desert decades before I found it and rescued this heavily weathered piece. Years of wind, rain, snow, and sun gave the wood a rough gray black exterior that resembles bark, but the bark itself fell off years ago. Some of that rustic exterior has been preserved to add character to the art. 25.5 x 11.5 x 3.25"; 4.5 lbs.
... I have arbitrarily called one side the “front,” but is fascinating from all sides.
… A smooth and glossy shellac like finish protects this sculpture, and it is further enhanced by using a light food safe wax coating, so it will enhance your home or office for many years.
… Whether you prefer the spelling “one of a kind” or one-of-a-kind, it does not matter, because this fine art piece is truly unique. It will always generate warm smiles, oohs, ahs, and appreciative comments.
… If you live near me in Oregon, contact me PRIOR to PURCHASE and take advantage of my Local pick-up OPTION. This can save you considerable shipping expense. This item would normally be shipped in a box. I expect it to take 1-3 days to ship and I will email you when it has been sent.
... Care of your Valuable Art piece:
1. The beauty of your art piece will best be maintained by periodically gently removing dust with a very soft brush on a vacuum cleaner, and perhaps occasionally rejuvenating the finish with a very light coat of Howard Butcher Block (a tasteless and odorless mix of food grade mineral oil & natural waxes) or, if it won't be holding food, use Howard’s Feed-N-Wax (a blend of beeswax, Brazilian carnauba wax, mineral oil, and orange oil).
2. The wood for this sculpture was cured until it reached a moisture content similar to that in most homes. In some pieces, natural cracks have been filled and others have been retained to enhance the sculpture's design. Occasionally, over time, cracks may change since indoor humidity levels vary considerably (e.g., residence or office).
3. Your art piece should NOT be displayed in direct sunlight (no wood likes direct sun) because strong light will fade its rich colors.
4. Display this treasure where it will be protected from chemicals and moisture.
