Floor or tabletop sculpture with beautiful and exotic grain patterns and rich natural golden brown and black colors (no stains or artificial colors added). This indoor art piece started as a simple spalted, 50" long x 16" diameter piece of a branch from a massive 48-inch diameter, 150-year-old, Oregon Bigleaf Maple tree that had been standing dead for nearly 10 years.
... As its sculpting began, my imagined goal grew and it became more and more elaborate and time-consuming, eventually sprouting six (6) see-through slots between its carved "legs" and including a rare hollow center. As the sculpting continued, the fluted top took on a shape of its own, looking a bit like an adventuresome and colorful wildflower. The final art piece measures 41.5 inches tall x 24 wide x 16”, and weighs 43 lbs.
... If you would like to see more videos, let me know and I can email you two more (one shows a close up of the top, and one shows a close up of the bottom section).
... If your delivery location is near me, you have the option of picking the piece up in person or, for a cost much less than shipping, I can deliver it to you.
… Shipping: This item will be shipped in a box. I expect it to take 1-3 days to ship and I will email you with a tracking number when it has been sent. Since this is an extra-large and heavy item, it would be best if we talked prior to your purchase so I can give you more exact shipping information. If, because of your location, boxing and shipping costs more than I have listed, I may have to charge you the extra. If boxing and shipping costs less, I will gladly refund you the difference.
… Local Pick Up: BEFORE BUYING, if you're in the Portland, Oregon, area and wish to pick up this item in person, contact me via email (rcpaulson@msn.com; or call 503-307-8292) BEFORE PURCHASE so I can reduce the shipping cost and reserve the item for you. Also, if the piece does not need to be boxed at all (because a thick blanket would be enough protection), your cost will be lower.

Care of your Valuable Art piece:
1. The beauty of your art piece will best be maintained by periodically gently removing dust with a very soft brush on a vacuum cleaner or a very lightly dampened cloth, and perhaps occasionally rejuvenating the satin finish with a very light coat of Howard’s Feed-N-Wax (a blend of beeswax, Brazilian carnauba wax, mineral oil, and orange oil).
2. The wood for this sculpture was cured until it reached a moisture content like that in most homes. In some pieces, natural cracks have been filled and others have been retained to enhance the sculpture's design. Over time cracks may change because humidity levels vary considerably, as do areas of the country.
3. Ideally, your art piece should NOT be displayed in direct sunlight (no wood likes direct sun) because strong light will fade its rich colors.
4. Display this treasure where it will be protected from chemicals and moisture.
5. If you have specific questions, feel free to contact me.
