… The maple tree – 120 years old, 36” diameter trunk, 50’ tall -- that provided the strongly grained exotic and recycled wood for this bowl sculpture blew down in a storm.  I cured the wood for over 20 years before sculpting it.  Upcycled wood.  
… A smooth and glossy shellac like finish protects this bowl so it can hold and display anything but liquids or moist items.  
Care of your Valuable Art piece:  
1.  The beauty of your art piece will best be maintained by periodically gently removing dust, and occasionally buffing it with a very light furniture polish.  
2. As for all wood art, it should NOT be displayed in direct sunlight (no wood likes direct sun) because strong light will fade its rich colors, of course some wood colors inevitably change some over time. 
3. Display this treasure where it will be protected from chemicals and moisture.
