Profile

My motto:  Protect the environment as though your life depends on it!

I am driven to create and obsessed with finding the RIGHT exotic wild salvaged wood for my art.

Welcome.  Thanks for visiting.  I love creating rustic to refined wild-wood art that instantly elicits a viewer’s “WOW!”

Nature is the true artist!  I am merely her patient and loving assistant spending hours accenting her masterful creativity.

I began creating wood art in 1970 and selling unique creations in 1991 but I have always been exploring the beauty, peace, solitude and challenges of nature and wild places.

I hope your search for some of her masterpieces has been as rewarding as mine.

My artistic goal is to pull magic out of each specially selected wood piece by revealing its inner and outer uniqueness and finishing it as an elegant and captivating item worthy of becoming an heirloom.

Hunting for unique raw wood pieces for my artistic sculptures and containers intrigues me.  My exotic art rises from salvaged trees (snags, driftwood, blowdowns, fire and storm damaged trees).  As a sculptor, I seek one-of-a-kind raw-wood pieces with rich color, and dramatic, irresistible shapes.

I grew up on a farm in Minnesota and have lived in many states and Ghana, West Africa, but my home since the 1970’s has been the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the United States, I’m now near Portland, Oregon.

From childhood to me now at 80+ years, I have loved nature.  Eventually that love drew me to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology, then a master’s in educational media, which built on my love of photography and art.

Besides the art pieces you can see here, I have dozens exotic pieces in two Oregon art galleries:  RiverSea Gallery, Astoria, OR [https://click.artcld.com/artist/robert-paulson?sub=5264ce6a-a6f0-4477-8c4a-a1c8a3f1542d]  ----  Toriizaka Art Gallery, Sisters, OR [https://www.toriizakaart.com/]

I invite you to visit them to see more of my artwork and all their exquisite art.   If you would like to see a listing of all my sculptures, please let me know.

Also, since shipping costs have skyrocketed, free Local Pickup is available in the Portland, Oregon, area, which is particularly good for large items.  That also gives you an opportunity to inspect and feel items before finalizing a purchase.  For pickup, BEFORE YOU ORDER, call me at 503-307-8292 (or email me at  rcpaulson [!at] msn.com / or use Etsy messaging) to make an appointment.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email me.
